Danielle & Albert, Creators of Angry Alpaca Tea

Tell me a little about yourself and how you got started.

We started Angry Alpaca in 2014 after years of searching for fun, full-flavoured, all-natural teas. We currently reside at Hummingbird Homestead in River Hebert with our two sons, a dog,  goats, chickens, and millions of bees.

Out of all your products, which one is your personal favorite, and why?

Besides tea, we also make a range of preserves with our sister company, Hummingbird Homestead, and my favourite is "Owen's Dills"

If you could jump back in time to when you first started your business, what piece of advice would you give yourself?

Spell check before sending labels and t-shirts to print!  That was a bit of a disaster and embarrassing for us.

Were there ever any times when you wanted to throw in the towel and call it quits? How did you deal with it?

In the past I've gotten very stressed out when getting ready for a big event, or a big order and have thought to myself "is it worth it?" and I would always end up taking a step back to analyze the situation with and determine if it was something to quit over.  It's also super to have such a supportive partner to help guide you and encourage you, and you build each other up.

How do you spend your time when you’re not creating?

I enjoy reading mysteries and whodunnits, while Albert loves playing pinball. We both love spending time outside biking and hiking.

What are some of your favorite things about the town or city you live in?

We moved to River Hebert from London Ontario for just over a year now and absolutely love the quiet and tranquility of living on the outskirts of a small village.  Being close to Joggins beach is a great treat in the summer, and of course, getting to see all of the constellations at night is a bonus!

Who’s the person, dead or alive, that you would want to have over for dinner?

Probably my dad, and Alberts mom. We lost both of them a few years back.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?

I've always loved Harry Potter growing up, (still do) and have always been drawn to the Invisibility Cloak.

If you weren’t a maker, what would you be doing?

I work as a EA at CCRCE and Albert is a full-time homesteader/farmer
